My first large narrative piece, painted in 1989. It would take a book to explain it all, but the image of the boy came from a photo I took of a kid leaning on the edge of a fussball game at the Strandbad Wannsee in Berlin. Another boy entirely--Scott--posed for the reflection. The Air Force uniform in the closet is mine, the cello I rented, the little gourd on the dresser was given a scare by Scott. Oh, and as for the meaning of the head manikin on the floor, you'd need access to my therapist's notes to get it.
