Wahclella Falls is on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. It is a hike of about a quarter mile so I had to pack my painting gear to the motif. The date next to the image probably says 2026, but I actually did the painting in 2001 and went out two or three times to the motif to paint the falls in person. I really studied the way the water fell and felt I'd gotten it accurately. Ironically, I submitted this painting twice to juried shows and was rejected each time because 'it didn't look like a waterfall.' As Tolstoy might have said, "All badly painted waterfalls are alike, but every waterfall painted in person is unique in its own way."
